Carmen Richter: Books

Let's talk about my books!

I currently have twenty published books, with plans for a bunch more! It's so hard to give a good starting point because it's like asking me to choose between children, so instead, I'm going to give you some options.

  • Sealed With a Kiss Series: This series of angsty, steamy, emotional, and tear-jerking small town romances will give you ALLLLLLL the feels and make you hurt so good! The main story in the series, Zoe and Elijah's story, is told in two separate trilogies: hers and his. While there are some different moments in each perspective, you only need to read one of the trilogies to get the complete story. There are also currently four standalone novels about their friends and family, with plans for a bunch more.
  • Game of Love Series: I'm coming for my glass of salty tears in this angsty, steamy new adult sports romance series too! This is a series of interconnected standalones, though you might enjoy the books best in order. The first two books in this series, Breaking My Silence and Under My Skin, are available now, along with a tie-in novella called Zone Defense, which will be expanded into a full novel, given a new title, and added to the series eventually. Right now, there are plans for seven books total in the series, but that may end up being expanded depending on which characters decide to talk to me.
  • Eagle Security Series: These full-length female rockstar/bodyguard romances also come with my signature feels and spice! Daphne and Ezra's story, Falling Angel, is available now, and the next two books in the series will be about their kids. There are no set release dates for either of these stories, but they are planned and will be happening!
  • DeVille Records Series: This completed series of low-angst, feel-good female rockstar novellas sort of spun off from Falling Angel. The series jumps a bit into the future from Daphne and Ezra's story, after Daphne has started her own record label. Each short, sweet, and steamy story is about a different female artist that is signed to the label.
  • Mistletoe & Holly: This low-angst, feel-good holiday novella was originally supposed to be part of the DeVille Records series...until I started writing it and realized Holly didn't want to be a rock star. So, instead of forcing a storyline that didn't feel right for who she was as a character, I decided to just make this story stand on its own. There may be more books in this series, but I don't have any concrete plans for them yet!
  • Patient 247: This standalone novel is a semi-autobiographical story about my journey to get the help I needed with my chronic medical conditions. While the romance and friendships in this book are fictional, the medical part is 100% based on my real lived experiences. It was a hard story to write, but so rewarding at the same time!

Check out the drop-down menus below to learn more about the individual books and find links to purchase them directly from me on my Fourthwall shop. (The ebook sales pages all have links to find the books on major retailers as well, but buying them from my shop is the best way to support me as an author. And, as an added bonus, all physical book orders come hand-signed with tons of fun swag! Hardcover books are also exclusive to my online shop.)

Please note that ALL of my books contain profanity and sexually explicit content. If you don't see a trigger warning list besides that, it means the book doesn't have any additional content warnings.

Sealed With a Kiss: Darla & Brendan
My Vows Are Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #0

Salvation is at hand. All it takes is a leap of faith.

My father called himself a spiritual leader, but behind closed doors, he was the Devil incarnate.

I never told anyone about the horrors he subjected me to…until my oldest friend, Brendan, guessed the truth and promised me that I wasn’t alone anymore.

But when my happiness and hope was all wrapped up in one person, it was easy to forget that the real world was still there outside the safe bubble that Brendan and I had created for ourselves.

Just when we thought the worst of our troubles were behind us, we found ourselves faced with something both beautiful and terrifying. Something that would change our lives forever…if we survived the fallout.

Note: This book is a prequel story to the Sealed With a Kiss series about the parents of one of the characters, but it may be read as a standalone.

  • Coming of Age
  • Small Town
  • Friends-to-Lovers
  • Found Family
  • Abuse Rescue

This book deals with the subject of child abuse and domestic abuse, which takes place at the hand of a Southern Baptist pastor who uses his religion as an excuse for mistreating his wife and daughter. The scenes depicting the abuse are graphic and may be triggering and disturbing for some readers, and one of them borders on sexual abuse (though it is stopped before it gets to that point).

This book also contains profanity, on-the-page sex scenes between a seventeen-year-old girl and a nineteen-year-old boy, and an unplanned pregnancy. The bonus epilogue contains a short scene of the baby’s birth. This book DOES fall within the consent laws in the state in which it’s set.

Sealed With a Kiss: Zoe Book One
My Lips Are Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #1

At sixteen years old, I lost my first love, and it shook me to my core.

My parents thought taking me out of town for the summer would help me to move on, but I returned home the same way I left: a broken girl who was the last person to see her boyfriend alive.

The night before school started back up, I went to an open mic night and poured my heart and soul into a song I wrote for the boy who never made it home.

That night, I met Elijah, and we had an instant connection that I couldn’t ignore. For the first time in months, I felt alive again.

But the next day, Elijah walked into my drama class…as Mr. Larson, our new teacher.

How was I supposed to go back to the way things were when my whole life had been turned upside-down? And how was I supposed to stop myself from falling for the man who had brought me back to life?

My Heart Is Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #2

When I was sixteen, I met the love of my life.

When I was eighteen, he let me go so I could chase my dream in New York.

When I was twenty-two, the dream I’d been chasing came true.

When I was twenty-three, the man I’d never stopped loving came back into my life.

And when I was twenty-five, I moved back to Florida to start a life with him.

Everyone in St. Augustine was so happy to have me back. Except for one person. One person who seemed to want nothing more than to watch the life I was trying to build with my fiancé fall apart.

When we first met, Elijah and I had to fight because we weren’t supposed to be in love. But how were we supposed to fight this time, when we had no idea who we were fighting or why we were fighting them?

My Future Is Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #3

My wedding day was supposed to be a day full of love and joy. But I was robbed of that when I got a threat from a stalker I was hoping was gone.

Determined not to let fear dictate our lives, Elijah and I left for our honeymoon as planned…only to find that we were trapped on a cruise ship with a lunatic who spent the week turning our dream into a nightmare.

We did make it home in one piece, but not without scars from the trauma we’d endured at sea. The kind of scars that would never really heal.

The unexpected news that we were about to be parents strengthened our resolve to find and stop this person. We needed to be able to raise our child without constantly looking over our shoulders.

As my stalker got more desperate, they started uncovering secrets about both me and Elijah, some of which made us question everything we thought we knew. And when they finally made a mistake that revealed their identity, it left us with more questions than answers.

What did this person want? Why were they so determined to watch me crash and burn? And, most importantly, how were we supposed to stop them before it was too late?

Sealed With a Kiss: Elijah Book One
My Fate Is Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #4

When my best friend committed suicide in our senior year of high school, I moved two states away, trying to escape the grief.

Less than two years later, I found out that my girlfriend had cheated on me and was about to have another man’s child.

I spent the next three years retreating into a shell of my former self, keeping everyone at arm’s length. If all I got out of letting people in was pain, what was the point?

But that all changed the night I met Zoe.

When I heard her sing, her voice captivated me. When I talked to her, I felt an immediate connection. When I kissed her, she brought me back to life.

And then she walked into my classroom the next day…as one of my high school students.

Could I really pretend the chemistry between Zoe and I didn’t exist? Or was I willing to risk everything to be with the girl who had reminded me that life was worth living?

Note: My Fate Is Sealed is the first book of Elijah’s trilogy. This trilogy follows the events of Zoe’s trilogy, but from Elijah’s perspective.

Sealed With a Kiss: River & Mason
My Bonds Are Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #5

Life is hard. Admitting that you can't handle it alone is harder.

Getting a call from my partner’s stepdaughter, begging me to pick her up from her boyfriend’s apartment in the middle of the night, scared the hell out of me.

Finding out that she’d called me because his sorry ass refused to take her to the airport to go help her sister through a crisis? That just pissed me off.

River had so much weight on her shoulders: caring for her sick mother, supporting her sister from a thousand miles away, and being a full-time college student.

The more I tried to shoulder some of her burdens, the harder I fell for her. And the harder I fell, the less I wanted her to see my own burdens, especially my fear of hurting her the same way I’d hurt the last woman I cared about.

Would I ever be brave enough to tell her how I felt, or would the ghosts of my past rob me of the best thing that had ever happened to me?

Note: This is the fifth book in the Sealed With a Kiss series, and while it may be read as a standalone, it does contain some spoilers for Zoe and Elijah’s story.

Sealed With a Kiss: Elijah Book Two
My Soul Is Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #6

The day I watched Zoe drive away bound for New York was the worst day of my life.

Worse than the day I found out that my best friend had killed himself. Worse than the day I found out my ex-girlfriend had been unfaithful. Even worse than the day I almost died.

The best day of my life? The day she agreed to marry me. And a very close second was a year later, when we drove a moving truck out of New York City so she could move back to Florida with me.

Everyone in St. Augustine was thrilled with Zoe’s decision to move back home. Everyone except for one person. One person whose sole goal seemed to be stopping our wedding from happening, by whatever means necessary.

Fighting for our relationship while she was in high school because we weren’t supposed to love each other was one thing. But how were we supposed to fight this time, when we didn’t know who we were fighting against and why they’d started this war in the first place?

Note: My Soul Is Sealed the second book of Elijah’s trilogy, which started with My Fate Is Sealed and must be read in order. This trilogy follows the events of Zoe’s trilogy, but from Elijah’s perspective.

Sealed With a Kiss: Elijah Book Three
My Dreams Are Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #7

My wedding day was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. And it was…until it wasn’t.

Until Zoe got a message from the stalker we thought had disappeared.

We thought we’d be safe on a dream cruise for our honeymoon. There was no way this psycho could follow us out to sea. Right?

Wrong.

Returning home with crushed spirits and reputations, we resolved to do everything we could to bring this person to justice. When we found out we were expecting six weeks later, something that should have been joyful brought abject terror. How could I keep my wife and unborn child both safe from a lunatic whose actions kept escalating?

Zoe’s stalker played on both of our deepest fears, unearthing memories long buried and shining light on truths that shook us to the core. And when they finally made the mistake that revealed their identity, it changed everything I thought I knew about my past.

Stopping this person was supposed to end it. But no one told me about the aftermath. Would I survive the weight of the knowledge that had been forced on me, or would it crumble the foundation my life was built on and rob me of the only thing I still knew was real?

Note: My Dreams Are Sealed is the final book in Elijah’s trilogy, which started with My Fate Is Sealed and My Soul Is Sealed and must be read in order. This trilogy follows the events of Zoe’s trilogy, but from Elijah’s perspective.

Also please note that this is the third book of a trilogy, and the first book depicted a relationship between a seventeen-year-old student and her twenty-three-year-old teacher. The beginning of the relationship is discussed in this book.

Sealed With a Kiss: Maddie & Autumn
My Pride Is Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #8

Cupid’s arrow doesn’t always fly straight.

After breaking up with my girlfriend of almost three years, the last thing I wanted was to go out of town for an old friend’s wedding.

But then I met Maddie. Even from across the room, what stood out the most to me wasn’t her vibrant red hair or her piercing emerald eyes. It was the soul-deep pain I could see etched on her face. For some reason I couldn’t understand, I was drawn to it – to her.

The spark between us was instant, our chemistry was off the charts, and I fell hard and fast. And the more I helped the shy, fragile girl I’d first met grow into a strong, confident woman, the deeper my feelings for her grew.

But when my ex-girlfriend saw me moving on with Maddie, she decided that she was going to get me back…whether or not I liked it. Because if she couldn’t have me, no one could.

Note: This is the eighth book in the Sealed With a Kiss series, and while it may be read as a standalone, it contains major spoilers for Zoe and Elijah’s books.

Sealed With a Kiss: Sadie & Keith
My Voice Is Sealed

Sealed With a Kiss #9

Blood tried to silence her...but her real family gave her a voice.

Ten seconds. Thirteen words.

That was all it took to doom me to a lifetime of misery. Because the one woman I saw a future with was completely off-limits.

When my mother and stepfather sent me packing the moment I turned eighteen, I should have taken the hint and backed away. But Sadie was fighting a battle that couldn’t be won alone. A battle against her father, the doctors trying to treat her epilepsy, and most of all, her own body. And I loved her too much to abandon her when she needed me the most.

Could I be what Sadie needed without giving in to my feelings, or would the pull between us end up being too strong to resist?

Breaking My Silence

Game of Love #1

Fear silenced me. Love helped me speak my truth.

Three weeks before my sixteenth birthday, I was sexually assaulted by three of the most popular boys in my school. They threatened to kill me if I ever said a word.

For two years, I kept my head down and my mouth shut. And then Ian happened. When the new running back from out of town asked me to tutor him, something made me say yes. Even though all of my survival instincts were screaming at me to run, something about him made me feel safe. Safe enough to trust him with my truth.

But when the people who had ruined my life found out I’d broken my silence, Ian and I found ourselves playing a dangerous game we didn’t know the rules to…with people who would stop at nothing to duck the consequences of their actions.

Game of Love: Daniela & Braden
Under My Skin

Game of Love #2

Dating him was just an act…so why was he getting under my skin?

After the untimely death of my sister, I was left with custody of her newborn son. Despite trying my best, I was barely able to care for myself, much less an infant. Things were looking bleak…until the opportunity of a lifetime fell into my lap, courtesy of my bestie.

She told me about a friend of hers, a pro football player, who was looking for someone to pose as his girlfriend to help restore his public image, and that he was willing to pay generously for their time. It almost sounded too good to be true.

In a way, it was, because the man offering the help I so desperately needed was none other than my nephew's father, Braden Hicks. The one person in the world I truly despised.

Zone Defense

Ties in w/ Game of Love

Falling in love was easy. Following my heart seemed impossible.

When I left for college, I thought I was finally free from my father’s tyranny. I fell head over heels for the school’s star quarterback, Landon Jacobs, but when he got drafted by a team a thousand miles away, I was too scared to follow him.

Two years later, I was forced to move back home, and my father made it clear that the consequences would be brutal if I “defiled myself” with any of the players he coached.

I thought obeying him would be easy…until I walked right into Landon on the first day of training camp.

I knew I should keep my distance – for both our sakes. But how was I supposed to do that when Landon’s arms were the only place I’d ever truly felt safe?

Eagle Security: Daphne & Ezra
Falling Angel

Eagle Security #1

Protecting her was my job. Falling for her was inevitable.

When I started my job as Daphne DeVille’s new head of security, I was expecting a nightmare. I already had an eight-year-old daughter at home. The last thing I needed was to be a babysitter for a spoiled brat who had fired half of her crew in the middle of a tour.

And then I met her, and she was the complete opposite of everything I expected: sweet, down-to-earth, and even a little shy. In an industry dominated by fake, she was refreshingly real.

Daphne was a job. Just another person I was supposed to protect. But, as I fought to keep her safe from the obsessed stalker who was following her concert tour, the line between personal and professional quickly started to blur.

How was I supposed to keep her at arm’s length when what I really wanted to do was just keep her in my arms?

DeVille Records: Noelle & Julian
Sing Noelle

DeVille Records #1

My best friend kissed me on live television...and then asked me to forget it ever happened.

In the three years since that moment, I tried my best to ignore how right it felt to kiss Noelle. I couldn’t let my devastation over the fact that she didn’t feel the same cost me the best friend I’d ever had. It was hard enough keeping her in my life after she moved to New York to become a pop star.

It all came crashing down three weeks before Christmas. She called me looking for advice - heartbroken, humiliated, and in tears - and like an idiot, I stuck my foot in my mouth.

“You’ve already found someone who loves you. You’re talking to him.”

Would that slip cost me our lifelong friendship, or would it bring me the best gift I could have asked for?

Keeping Bailey

DeVille Records #2

After losing my fiancée in a tragic accident, I retreated to the safety of the Internet.

Love was the last thing on my mind, but before long, I found myself chatting every night with a woman I only knew by her first name.

Imagine my surprise when I found out she was Bailey Knight, one of the most popular up-and-coming rock stars in the world.

There was just one problem. I lived in London, while she lived in New York City.

When the concert tour Bailey was traveling with came to the U.K., I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to find out if our online relationship would translate to physical chemistry in the real world.

But no matter how right it felt, the question remained: how could this last when there was an ocean standing between us?

  • Queer Rep (demisexual heroine)
  • Mental Health Rep (anxiety)

Although this book is low angst and meant to be a short, sweet, and steamy read, it does deal with Bailey’s struggles with an undiagnosed anxiety disorder. There are also brief mentions of Finn’s fiancée dying in a car accident before the start of this story and his depression following the incident.

Accidental Love

DeVille Records #3

Love might be my name, but it had eluded me for my entire life.

After finding out that the woman I thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with was already married to someone else, I gave up on ever finding my soulmate. Every relationship I’d ever been in had crashed and burned, and I just couldn’t take any more heartache.

And then I met Willow. The moment I laid eyes on the gorgeous fiery-haired pop star, I knew I was in way over my head.

I was supposed to manage Willow’s career, not fall for her. But the more time I spent with her, the more I found myself wishing I could manage her heart too.

Was history doomed to repeat itself, or was finding a happily ever after possible after all?

  • Female Rock Star
  • Musician/Manager
  • Gaelic-Speaking Heroine
  • Found Family
  • Sapphic Romance
  • Love Doesn't Need Labels

While Accidental Love is meant to be a light, sweet, and steamy read, this book does deal with one of the heroines finding out that her girlfriend was actually married to another woman, and there is some drama with the ex-girlfriend later on as well. There’s also mention of a foster child witnessing a domestic violence situation in the bonus epilogue. I tried to make it as mild as possible, but I know these can both be sensitive subjects, so I don’t want readers to be caught unaware.

Choosing Cassidy

DeVille Records #4

From the moment she released her first single, Cassidy King had the whole world under her spell…and I was no exception.

Though I desperately wanted to meet Cassidy, I was resigned to admiring the blonde-haired, blue-eyed pop star from afar. It wasn’t often that the worlds of pro football and music intersected, and using my fame to gain an introduction had never been my style.

So I was blown away when she mentioned in an interview that she’d been following my football career since college and she wanted to meet me.

After going for a Hail Mary and slipping her my number before a concert, I found myself falling hard and fast for the beautiful, fragile soul behind the public persona. And the more I learned about her tragic upbringing, the more I wanted to be the one to give her a fairy tale ending.

Would Cassidy’s insecurities end us before we could even begin, or would she trust me with her heart and let me love her the way she deserved?

While Choosing Cassidy is low-angst and meant to be a short, sweet, and steamy read, this story does discuss the heroine’s childhood being bounced around between foster families and a mother who struggled with drug addiction, her former relationship with an emotionally abusive man thirteen years her senior, and unwanted advances being made toward her by a talk show host. The hero and heroine also visit a teenage cancer patient during the story. I know these can be sensitive subjects, so I don’t want my readers to be caught unaware.

Mistletoe & Holly

Ties in w/ DeVille Records

Fate was fickle…but could it change?

I met my soulmate when I was eleven years old. I thought we’d be together forever, but then our fairytale ending was ripped away by a drunk driver, leaving me to care for our daughter alone.

After Owen died, I threw myself into being the best mom I could be. If I couldn’t have him, at least I could keep his memory alive by raising Harper the way he would have wanted.

I was convinced I’d spend the rest of my life mourning him…until an accident, a snowstorm, and a meddling eight-year-old opened my eyes to the man who had been there for me all along: his older brother, Shephard.

Would the trauma of my past dictate my future, or would I find the courage to open my heart again and find a new happily ever after?

Although Mistletoe and Holly is meant to be a light, low-angst, steamy read, I do want to advise my readers that it deals with the past death of the heroine’s husband in a car accident and her struggle to move on after her loss. But mostly, it’s a story of hope and learning to love again…with plenty of steam!

Standalone: Hope & Lennon (part of Cinnamon Roll Saviors collab)
Patient 247

Standalone

It took almost dying for me to find something worth living for.

Being disabled was hard enough, but being overweight and disabled? It was a nightmare. Especially when my disability was making one of my legs blow up like a balloon while doctors just ranted at me about losing weight.

I was homebound, writing romance novels just to have something to break up the monotony, and had exactly two friends who cared enough to check in on me.

And then I ended up in the hospital, flagging for sepsis with not one, but two serious infections.

Enter Lennon. Amidst all the agony and humiliation, my gorgeous, goofy, and kindhearted night nurse was like a bright light, guiding me back from the brink.

I kept telling myself not to fall. That the connection I felt with him was nothing more than my desperation for human contact. But the more I got to know him, the more I let myself hope for something that seemed impossible.

Was I deluding myself, or had this romance novelist finally found her own happily ever after?

  • Hurt/Comfort
  • Found Family
  • Romance Author Heroine
  • Disability Rep (primary lymphedema & diabetes ⎻ heroine is mostly wheelchair-bound)

This book deals with the following issues:

  • Graphic descriptions of medical conditions (including open wounds)
  • Medical trauma
  • Body dysmorphia
  • Fatphobia (both internalized and external)
  • Secondary character’s struggle with domestic violence

Also, please note that the heroine in this book is one of many victims of the misogynistic, fatphobic American healthcare system. Her pain and obvious serious medical condition are continually overlooked, ignored, and minimized, and she’s also told multiple times that weight loss surgery will be a magic cure for her problems. The scenes describing this are graphic and meant to be intense, emotional, and infuriating.

This book is also semi-autobiographical, so while the romance and friendships are fictional, the medical part of the story is 100% based on my lived experiences.
